CD235a (Glycophorin A, GpA) (FITC)

CD235a McAb recognizes glycophorin A (GPA) which is single-pass membrane sialoglycoprotein. GPA is the carrier of blood group M and N specificities, which provides the cells with a large mucin-like surface which has been suggested to provide a barrier to cell fusion thereby minimizing aggregation between red blood cells in the circulation. Another function for CD235a that has been proposed is as a membrane inhibitor of reactive lysis. GPA is expressed on early erythroblasts, late erythroblasts, erythroblasts, mature erythrocytes and the cells of erythroid cell lines K562 and HEL, but not on all other cells. Mature erythrocytes are CD235a positive and CD45 and CD71 negative.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Flow Cytometry. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nFlow Cytometry (Direct immunofluorescence): 20ul/10e6 cells or 100ul peripheral blood cells\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
