Cytonectin

Cytonectin is a novel 35,000 molecular weight protein that displays remarkable ion-independent adherence properties. This consigns it to a family of well-known adherence molecules essential for cell communication and the development of 3-dimensional tissue structures. Cytonectin is expressed in a variety of organs and tissues, being evolutionarily conserved from human to avian species. It is hypothesized to act as a "do not attack" signal molecule that prevents tissue destruction by cells of momocyte lineage. The protein is overexpressed in Alzheimer disease entorhinal cortex as compared to normal age-matched controls. It is also detected in tissues from patients with Down syndrome and leukemia. Its presence in all 3 of these related conditions may prove important to their etiopathogensis. \n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000. The bound primary antibody is detected by HRP-goat anti-chicken IgY Fc fragment as secondary antibody, followed by any chemiluminescence protocol.\n\nImmunohistochemistry: Most tissues have some cytonectin detectable. Many pathologic tissues, especially neoplastic cells, show increased cytonectin expression. The antigens are highly evolutionarily conserved in human, rodent, and avian tissues.\n\nOptimum dilutions to be determined by researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
