Additional info: | Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 3G (eIF3G) is an RNA-associated protein involved in protein synthesis. It is a member of the eIF3 subunit G family and the largest of the eIF family with eIF3 being a multiprotein complex composed of at least 13 different subunits. eIF3G has a RNA recognition motif (RRM) domain and is known to interact with eIF3K. The function of eIF3G is to bind to the 40S ribosomal subunit and promote the binding of methionyl-tRNAi and mRNA. This subunit of eIF3 also binds to the 18S rRNA. It is ubiquitously expressed in most tissues. |
