Epidermal Growth Factor, Recombinant, Rat (EGF)

The effects of EGF are initiated through tyrosine kinase activity, following the binding of EGF to the extracellular domain of the EGF receptor (EGFR), which results in the triggering of several signal transduction pathways, including the JAK/STAT and P13K/AKT pathways. EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor) is a type I transmembrane protein expressed by a variety of cells, which acts as a potent stimulator and regulator of the proliferation of epidermal and epithelial cells, and is a key factor in cell survival. \n\nSource: \nPurified recombinant rat EGF expressed in E.coli.\n\nActivity: \nThe ED50 was determined by a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 cells is (same/more than) 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of (same/more than) 1x10e7 units/mg.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Functional Assays. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nEndotoxin: \n(same/less than) 1EU/ug.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at-20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile dH2O. Aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
