Ethinylestradiol is a synthetic estrogen with high oral hormonal potency. (1) It is rapidly reabsorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and the presence of an ethinyl at the 17-position reduces hepatic first-passage metabolism. (1) It is excreted in urine and some is found in faeces. Ethinylestradiol is illegally used in animal husbandry as an anabolic (1) and is excreted as the parent molecule in faeces, and as glucuronide or sulphate tracer in urine. (2)

Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
ELISA: 2.5ug/ml
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
