eIF4E is a protein that modulates the translation of maternal mRNAs in early embryos before the onset of zygotic transcription. eIF4E also influences the overall rate of translation. . Phosphorylation of eIF4E on serine 209 regulates the affinity of this protein for the 7 methyl GTP cap and/or RNA. Phosphorylation also enhances the interaction of eIF4E with eIF4G, which form a complex known as eIF4F. eIF4E phosphorylation is correlated with increased translational rate in a number of cell types. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:32000 Western Blot: 0.25-0.5ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
