Mammalian FEZ1 is a membrane protein located primarily in the brain. It serves as a protein kinase C (PKC-Z) substrate. Following phosphorylation by PKC-Z, FEZ1 translocates from the plasma membrane to the cytoplasm where it interacts with proteins involved in axonal outgrowth and cellular transport.
In addition, FEZ1, interacts with proteins involved in transcriptional regulation and chromatin remodelling indicating that FEZ1 may posses nuclear regulatory functions along with those of neuronal development.
Studies suggest that at least two distinct isoforms of FEZ1 exist. It should be noted that in spite of it predicted molecular weight, FEZ1 often runs at a higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1ug/ml
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
