FHOD1 (FH1/FH2 Domain-containing Protein 1, Formin Homolog Overexpressed in Spleen 1, FHOS, Formin Homology 2 Domain-containing Protein 1, FHOS, FHOS1)

FHOD1 is a member of the formin homology (FH) family of proteins bearing significant homology to Formins and Diaphanous proteins in the FH1 and FH2 domains. FHOD1 contains all the conserved domains, including FH1, FH2, and FH3 domains, and a coiled-coil, characteristic of FH protein. It also contains two nuclear localization signals, a classic lysine:arginine-rich domain and a consensus bipartite signal. FHOD1 induces transcription from serum response factor by multiple pathways. It interacts with Rac1 GTPase and induces the formation of and associates with bundled actin stress fibers. The protein also coordinates microtubules with these actin stress fibers thus mediating cell elongation. RNA blot analysis revealed high levels of FHOD1 mRNA in the spleen, skeletal muscle, and lung. Human FHOD1 gene is localized in the chromosomal region 16q22.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
