Human FGF acidic, also known as FGF 1 (fibroblast growth factor 1), is a member of the heparin-binding growth factor family, widely distributed in the peripheral and central nervous systems. \n\nFGF 1 acts as a potent neurotrophic factor, playing a key role during prenatal development and postnatal growth/regeneration and is dependent upon interactions with heparin sulfate (HS) proteoglycans located on cell surfaces and in the extracellular matrix, and the four high affinity tyrosine kinase receptors, designated FGFR-1,-2,-3 and -4.\n\nBioactivity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by FGF receptor-expressing BaF3 cells. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
