FOXO1A is a 655aa protein belonging to the forkhead family of transcription activators which is characterized by a distinct forkhead domain. The specific function of this protein has not yet been determined, however, it may play a role in myogenic growth and differentiation. It is also known to have a tumor suppressor function by inhibiting cell proliferation and survival. When fused to PAX3 it is known to cause alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
