GABARAP, a 17kD microtubule-associated polypeptide, is a novel member of a MAP-protein family which participate in intracellular membrane trafficking. It consists of a basic aa rich N-terminus, GABA (A) receptor interaction domain and a putative tubulin-binding motif. Localized in the intracellular membranes, GABARAP binds to gamma-2 subunit of GABA (A) receptors and plays a vital role GABA (A) receptor clustering and trafficking to the plasma membrane in neurons. It interacts with various proteins like Gephyrin, tubulin, NSF and transferin receptor and mediates efficient neuronal communication. Role of GABARAP has been implicated as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
