GFAP is expressed exclusively in astrocytes in the central nervous system. The protein is a member of the intermediate filament family of proteins which form networks providing support and strength to cells. This antibody does not cross-react with other intermediate filaments such as vimentin, neurofilament proteins, desmin and others. More than 50 GFAP mutations were identifiled to associate with Alexander disease. Applications: Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 0.25-1ug/ml dilution buffer for each mini-gel Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
