Giantin (Macrogolgin, Golgi Complex-associated 372kD Protein, GCP372)

Giantin, the largest Golgi membrane protein, is C-terminally anchored to cis- and medial-Golgi membranes and forms a long ~250nm coiled-coil rod that directly interacts with microtubules in a cell-cycle regulated way. It is an excellent marker for mammalian golgi complex. Giantin plays also a role in docking COPI vesicles to Golgi membranes. It is speculated that after mitosis giantin aids in guiding vesiculated Golgi membranes to the microtubule organizing center to reform a new Golgi apparatus.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA, Flow Cytometry, Immunocytochemistry, Immunohistochemistry and Immunoprecipitation. Not recommended for Western Blot.\nOther applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions: \nImmunocytochemistry: 1:1000\nImmunoprecipitation: 2ul\nImmunohistochemistry: Frozen sections\nOptimal dilution to be determined by researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile PBS, 0.1% sodium azide. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
