Hexokinase Type II (HK2, HKII)

Hexokinase is the first enzyme in the glycolytic pathway, catalyzing the transfer of a phosphoryl group from ATP to glucose to form glucose-6-phosphate and ADP. In mammals, four distinct enzymes (types 1 to 4 hexokinases) have been identified. These enzymes are found in most cells, but there is tissue specificity for the particular type of hexokinase. Hexokinase 2 is found in the skeletal muscle and includes hydrophobic N-terminal sequence capable of targeting the hexokinase to mitochondria.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000-1:2000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nHybridoma: \nDerived from hybridization of mouse FO myeloma cells with spleen cells from BALB/c mice immunized with a recombinant human Hexokinase 2 protein. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
