HIV-1 p24 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1)

HIV-1 performs highly complex orchestrated tasks during the assembly, budding, maturation and infection stages of the viral replication cycle. During viral assembly, the proteins form membrane associations and self-associations that ultimately result in budding of an immature virion from the infected cell. Gag precursors also function during viral assembly to selectively bind and package two plus strands of genomic RNA. Capsid protein p24 probably forms the conical core of the virus that encapsulates the genomic RNA-nucleocapsid complex.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nWestern Blot: 1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nRecommended Secondary Antibody:\nI1904-28V: IgG, Fc (HRP)\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes the HIV1 viral capsid p24 protein encoded by the gag gene along with p6, p7 and p17 which provide structural elements of the virus. Does not react with bovine sera, human sera or human T or B cells.
