HIV-1 tat, Strain MN, Recombinant (Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1)

Full length (100 amino acids) Recombinant HIV-1 MN tat produced in the E. coli Expression System.\n\nSpecificity: \nThis protein binds to murine monoclonal antibodies of defined epitope specificity and rabbit and human serum polyclonal antibodies in ELISA and Western ELISA. \n\nBiological Activity: \nThe biological specificity of this protein was determined by LTR-Beta galactosidase induction in MAGI and MAGI-CCR5 cells. Tat in 1-10ug/ml range induced Beta- galactosidase activity 30-fold over un-treated cells. \n\nEndotoxin: \nLess than 0.01EU/mg of protein as determined by BioWhittaker Kinetic QCL Kit. \n\nApplications: \nA dose dependent response assay should be performed to determine the optimal concentration for use in specific applications. Dilute tat stock solution in saline-phosphate buffer (150mM NaCl, 50mM sodiumphosphate, pH 6.5) immediately before use. Tat readily oxidizes in buffer solutions which may change its LTR- dependent transcriptional activation activity. Transcriptional activation assays with tat are performed in 1-10microg/ml range. ELISA and Western ELISA require tat in 10-100ng protein range.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.
