Additional info: | NF-kB is silenced in the cytoplasm by an inhibitory protein IkB. Synthesis of IkB(alpha) is autoregulated. IkB proteins are phosphorylated by IkB kinase complex consisting of at least three proteins, IKK1/(alpha), IKK2/(beta), and IKK3/(gamma). External stimuli such as tumor necrosis factor or other cytokines induce phosphorylation and degradation of IkB releasing NF-kB dimers. NF-kB dimers subsequently translocate to the nucleus and activate target genes. Six members of the IkB family have been identified. One of the first genes induced following NF-kB activation is IkB(alpha). This product is a biotinylated form of IkBa Monoclonal Antibody (Clone 6A920) (Item No. 13918). |
