Antigen: human recombinant MCAD . Host: rabbit . Cross Reactivity: (+) human, porcine, ovine, and mouse MCAD; other species not tested . Application(s): WB; other applications not tested . MCAD is a mitochondrial enzyme that catalyzes the first step in the (beta)-oxidation of fatty acids. Its expression is induced during periods of fasting and is regulated by PPAR(alpha), a ligand-activated transcription factor involved in the regulation of lipid homeostasis. MCAD expression can be used as a marker to evaluate the in vivo activity of PPAR(alpha).
