NALP2 (NACHT-, LRR- and PYD-Containing Protein 2, PYRIN-containing APAF1-like Protein 2, Nucleotide-Binding Site Protein 1)

Description: \nNALP2 belongs to a family of cytoplasmic proteins that have been implicated in cell responses to apoptotic and inflammatory stimuli (1). Unlike the prototypical NALP protein NALP1, NALP2 only contains a NACHT domain, leucine rich repeat (LRR), and pyrin-containing domain \n(PYD) (2). This protein interacts with the adapter protein ASC in addition to CARD8 and caspase-1 to form an inflammasome with high proIL-1b-processing activity and \nis thought to function as a modulator of NF-kB and procaspase-1 activation in macrophages (2,3). It has also been suggested that NALP2, in addition to other NALP family members, can act as innate sensors of pathogens in a manner similar to the toll-like receptors (TLRs) (4). At \nleast two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been found for NALP2. \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 1-2ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nPC-3 cell lysate \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
