Nerve Growth Factor, beta Recombinant, Human (NGFb)

NGF-beta has nerve growth stimulating activity and the complex is involved in the regulation of growth and the differentiation of sympathetic and certain sensory neurons. Mutations in this gene have been associated with hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy, type 5 (HSAN5), and dysregulation of this gene's expression is associated with allergic rhinitis.\n\nRecombinant protein corresonding to Human Nerve Growth Factor beta produced in CHO cells is a homodimer, glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 2 identical 118 amino acids. (26.5kD)\n\nProtein Content:\nProtein quantitation was carried out by two independent methods: \n1. UV spectroscopy at 280nm using the absorbency value of 1.1945 as the extinction coefficient for a 0.1% (1mg/ml) solution. This value is calculated by the PC GENE computer analysis program of protein sequences (IntelliGenetics). \n2. Analysis by RP-HPLC, using a calibrated solution of Recombinant beta-Nerve Growth Factor as a Reference Standard. \n\nBiological Activity:\nbeta-Nerve Growth Factor is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50, calculated by its ability to stimulate chick E9 DRG neurite outgrowth was found to be <1.0ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of >1x10e6 units/mg. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, 0.1% HSA or BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
