Expressed at the plasma membrane in epithelia involved in fluid transport, including type I alveolar epithelial cells, choroid plexus, and ciliary epithelium, the specific function of this protein has not been determined but it has been proposed as a marker of lung injury. T1A-2 has a broad tissue distribution with strong expression in lung, placenta and skeletal muscle. The physiological function of this protein may be related to its mucin-type character. The homologous protein in other species has been described as a differentiation antigen and influenza-virus receptor. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:1000 Western Blot: 1-3ug/ml Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
