Protein A (Immunoglobulin G Binding Protein A, Staphylococcal Protein A, SPA) (FITC)

Protein A is a 40-60kD MSCRAMM surface protein originally found in the cell wall of the bacteria Staphylococcus aureus. It is encoded by the spa gene and its regulation is controlled by DNA topology, cellular osmolarity, and a two-component system called ArlS-ArlR. It has found use in biochemical research because of its ability to bind immunoglobulins. It binds proteins from many of mammalian species, most notably IgGs. It binds with the Fc region of immunoglobulins through interaction with the heavy chain.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunofluorescence: 1:500-1:2500\nFlow Cytometry: 1:2000-1:10,000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
