PTX3 (TNFAIP5, TSG-14, TSG14, Tumor necrosis factor-inducible gene 14 protein, Pentraxin-related protein)

The long pentraxin 3 PTX3 is a member of a complex superfamily of multifunctional proteins, produced by innate-immunity cells in response to proinflammatory signals and Toll-like receptor engagement (1). PTX3 is a prototypic soluble pattern recognition molecule (PRM), thus the recognition of a microbial component by PTX3 can amplify the inflammatory response. It plays a role in the regulation of complement-mediated immune responses (2). PTX3 seems to also have unique immunoregulatory functions such as modulating the phagocytic uptake of apoptotic cells by macrophages and dendritic cells (3). A mutation in PTX3 is associated with a severe defect in female fertility (1).\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Flow cytometry. Other applications have not been tested. \n\nRecommended Dilutions: \nWestern Blot: 1:1000-1:10,000\nImmunoprecipitation: 1:10-1:100\nFlow Cytometry: 1:10-1:100\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months.
