The DAXX-01 monoclonal antibody recognizes human Daxx also known as Death domain-associated protein 6 and EAP1. Daxx is a ubiquitously expressed protein with a predicted molecular weight approximately 81 kD. Daxx binds to both Fas death domain and the apoptosis signal-regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) and promotes Fas-mediated apoptosis through a signal transduction pathway involving the Jun amino-terminal kinase(JNK) pathway. Daxx is mainly located in the nucleus as a transcriptional repressor and also located in the cytoplasmic as a proapoptotic signal mediator. The DAXX-01 antibody has been shown to be useful for Western blotting and Immunocytochemistry. Daxx migrated with an apparent molecular weight of approximately 120 kD on SDS-PAGE; this slower than expected migration may reflect the high content of acidic residues in Daxx.
