Mediates electroneutral sodium- and carbonate-dependent chloride-HCO3- exchange with a Na+:HCO3- stoichiometry of 2:1. Plays a major role in pH regulation in neurons. May be involved in cell pH regulation by transporting HCO3- from blood to cell. Enhanced expression in severe acid stress could be important for cell survival by mediating the influx of HCO3- into the cells. Also mediates lithium-dependent HCO3- cotransport. May be regulated by osmolarity. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: ELISA: 1:1000 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
