Thyroxine Binding Globulin (Thyroxine-binding Globulin, TBG, Serpin A7, SERPINA7, T4-binding Globulin)

Thyroxine binding is a protein with a molecular weight of 55,700kD. The protein is binding\nthyroxine as well as triiodothyronine. In immunoelectrophoresis it has a alpha mobility. The\nmean concentration in normal human serum is about 40mg/ml. Elevated levels are observed\nduring oestrogen administration, pregnancy hypothyroidism. Reduced levels are observed in\nhypothyroidism.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA, Immunoelectrophoresis and Double Radial Immunodiffusion. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Recognizes human thyroxine binding globulin. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion (Ouchterlony) against fresh normal human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with purified thyroxine binding globulin. No reaction is obtained with any other plasma protein component or serum. Does not crossreact with any other component of human plasma.
