Receptors for VEGF, VEGFB and PGF have a tyrosine-protein kinase activity. The VEGF-kinase ligand/receptor signaling system plays a key role in vascular development and regulation of vascular permeability. VEGF and its high-affinity binding receptors, the tyrosine kinases FLK1 and FLT1, are thought to be important for the development of embryonic vasculature. It has been shown that an alternately spliced form of FLT1 produces a soluble protein, termed sFLT1, which binds vascular endothelial growth factor with high affinity, playing an inhibitory role in angiogenesis. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 3 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional info: This antibody has only been shown to recognize the native form (180-190kD protein) of VEGFR-2, known as Flk-1/KDR/VEGFR 2 (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2), though it was raised against the precursor form. It has not been characterized against the other forms of VEGFR-2. It has not been tested for crossreactivity with VEGFR-1. Species Crossreactivity: This antibody reacts with human protein. This antibody has a high likelihood of also reacting with mouse and rat proteins.
