VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) is a homodimeric, disulfide-linked glycoprotein involved in angiogenesis which promotes tumor progression and metastasis. It exhibits potent mitogenic and permeability inducing properties specific for the vascular endothelium. Of the four isoforms of VEGF, the smaller two, VEGF165 and VEGF121, are secreted proteins and act as diffusible agents, whereas the larger two (VEGF189 and VEGF206) remain cell associated. Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry . Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1-2ug/ml Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:50 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Positive Control: VEGF 165 recombinant protein. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile 40-50% glycerol, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
