VDAC1 (Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel 1, Mitochondrial Porin)

The Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel (VDAC1, Mitochondrial Porin) is an outer membrane mitochondrial protein. The VDAC1 protein is thought to form the major pores through which adenine nucleotides cross the outer mitochondrial membrane. VDAC1 has also been implicated in the formation of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore complex in apoptotic cells. This complex, formed by VDAC1, adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT), and cyclophilin D (CypD), is thought to allow the mitochondria to undergo metabolic uncoupling and irreversible morphologic changes that ultimately destroy the mitochondria during apoptosis.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Not suitable for use in Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 2ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
