BID (BH3 Interacting Domain Death Agonist)

Bid, BH3 interacting domain death agonist, is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family of proteins that regulate apotosis. Bid is localized to the cytosol in an inactive precursor form. Upon caspase-8 binding in the Fas signaling pathway, Bid is cleaved and the active Bid fragment translocates to mitochondria and induces cytochrome c release and the resulting apoptotic cascade (1-3). Bid contains a BH3 domain which allows it to dimerize with and counter the death repressor effects of Bcl-2. BID has also been shown to heterodimerize with Bcl-x and the death agonist Bax (4).\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Flow Cytometry, Western Blotting, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nFlow Cytometry: 1:50\nWestern Blotting: 1:1,000\nImmunohistochemistry: 1:100\nImmunocytochemistry: 1:100\nImmunoprecipitation: 1:10\n\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot Freeze at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
