Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA, CD66e) (BSA, Azide, Glycerol Free)

Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is synthesized during development in the fetal gut, and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. Anti-CEA is reportedly useful in identifying the origin of various metastatic adenocarcinomas and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+).\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nWestern Blot: 1-2ug/ml for 2 hours at RT.\nImmunoprecipitation: 2ug antibody/mg protein lysate, native and denatured (Use Protein A).\nImmunohistochemistry (Formalin/paraffin): 1:1000 for 30 minutes at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tussues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: \nLS174T cells and Colon carcinoma\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Additional Info

Recognizes human CEA at ~180kD. Shows no detectable reactivity to nonspecific crossreacting antigen (NCA), biliary glycoprotein (BGP) or human polymorphonuclear leukocytes. Shows no reaction with a variety of normal tissues. Does not crossreact with rat.
