CaSR (A884) pAb

The calcium sensing receptor (CaSR) has been shown to play\r a major role in regulating parathyroid hormone secretion and\r subsequently influencing the calcium concentration of extracellular\r fluids. Based on sequence analysis of cDNA clones\r it appears that the CaSR is similar to the 7-transmembranedomain\r G-protein-coupled receptor superfamily. Changes in\r extracellular calcium are thought to modulate a balance between\r proliferation and differentiation in a variety of cell\r types. In normal primary keratinocytes and breast epithelial\r cells, proliferation is inhibited and elevated extracellular\r calcium levels trigger differentiation. Malignant transformations\r of these cell types are accompanied by a loss of responsiveness\r to the anti-proliferative effects of elevated extracellular\r calcium.
