CD117 (c-kit, Stem Cell Factor, SCF Receptor, Steel Factor Receptor, Mast Cell Growth Factor, MGF)

CD117 or c-kit, a transmembrane receptor tyrosine kinase, is a receptor for a growth factor encoded by the steel locus and known as steel factor (SLF), stem cell factor (SCF), mast cell growth factor MGF or KIT Ligand (KL). The binding of the stem cell factor (SCF) to the c-kit-encoded receptor tyrosine kinase \n(Type III) stimulates a variety of biochemical responses that culminate in cellular proliferation, migration or survival. c-kit plays an important role in hematopoiesis, melanogenesis and gametogenesis. The antigen is expressed in many tissues and cells: 0.6-3.4% of normal bone marrow cells which comprise BFU-E, CFU-GEMM, CFU-GM and CFU-G. 19-51% of CD34+ bone marrow cells co-express c-kit. c-kit/SCF is involved in development of several lineages of stem cells, such as germ cells, neural crest-derived melanocytes, and hematopoietic precursor cells. \n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Flow Cytometry, Immunoprecipitation, Western Blot, and blocking of ligand binding. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nFlow Cytometry: (same/less than)0.2ug/10e6 cells\nImmunohistochemistry: frozen tissue\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: Skin tissue, normal breast epithelium, melanocytes, mast cells and glial cells.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
