CD2 (E Rosette Receptor, T11, Lymphocyte Function Antigen 2, LFA-2, Sheep Erythrocyte Receptor) (PE)

CD2 reacts with all human peripheral T-lymphocytes and a fraction of the NK cell (large granular lymphocyte) population. CD2 antigen plays a role in T cell signaling and in lymphocyte adhesion [1,2]. The major ligand for the extracellular portion of human CD2 is CD58 (LFA3).\nMonoclonal antibody CD2, clone B-E2, can be applied in flow cytometry for analysis of blood and bone marrow samples or in immunohistochemistry using cytospots or frozen tissue sections. In biological studies CD2 inhibits the mixed lymphocyte reaction.\nCD2 antibodies are applied in flow cytometry for the quantification of the total T-cell population in blood and for the identification of CD2 positive cells in tissue sections. It has also been applied in the analysis of NK cell populations. CD2 antibodies may also be used for the elimination or quantitative isolation of T cells by flow cytometry or magnetic particles. CD2 is expressed on 83% of peripheral blood lymphocytes.\nIn functional assays, such as the mixed lymphocyte reaction, CD2 inhibits T cell activation. Clone B-E2 antibodies are also suitable for depletion of CD2+ cells by complement mediated cytotoxicity.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Flow Cytometry and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nFlow Cytometry: 20ul antibody will stain 10e6 leukocytes. Staining with clone B-E2 (CD2) is illustrated by flow cytometry analysis of a blood sample from a healthy donor. Indirect staining was performed using 10ul pure CD2 monoclonal antibody followed by anti-mouse FITC Secondary antibody.\nOptimal working dilutions to be determined by researcher.\n\nCellular Expression: \nT lymphocytes, NK cell subset\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
