Cat no: C5062-73

CHRNA6, ID (Neuronal Acetylcholine Receptor Subunit alpha-6)

Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors are heteropentameric ligand-gated ion channels resulting from the assembly of alpha and beta protein subunits. This ion channel is gated by the binding of acetylcholine to the assembled receptor. Alpha 6 is often found associated with beta 3, beta 2, and alpha 4 subunits. CHRNA6 receptors have a relatively selective localization to the nigrostriatal pathway where they function to mediate dopamine release. The findings that the receptors are downregulated in response to dopaminergic nerve terminal loss and that nicotine protects against nigrostriatal damage suggests that CHRNA6 may a represent unique target for neurodegenerative disorders.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Not suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry (Formalin fixed paraffin embedded): 5-10ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
