Chromogranin A (CGA, CHG A, Pancreastatin, Parathyroid secretory protein 1, Pituitary secretory protein I, Vasostatin, SPI)

Chromogranin A is a protein of 439aa which is encoded on chromosome 14. It is present in neuroendocrine cells throughout the body, including the neuroendocrine cells of the large and small intestine, adrenal medulla and pancreatic islets. It is an excellent marker for carcinoid tumors, pheo-chromocytomas, paragangliomas, and other neuro-endocrine tumors. Coexpression of chromogranin A and neuron specific enolase (NSE) is common in neuroendocrine neoplasms.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Westrn Blot, Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry (Frozen and paraffin sections): 1:10 \nNo proteolytic pretreatment.\nWestern Blot: 1:10\nImmunofluorescence: 1:10\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. \n\nPositive Control: \nPancreas and adrenal medulla\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes human Chromogranin A. Represents an excellent marker for most neuroendocrine, neuronal and adrenal tumors: e.g. pheochromocytoma, paraganglioma, neuroblastoma, pancreatic islet cell carcinoma, gastroadenomas from pituitary and parathyroid gland. Weak reaction with Merkel cell tumors of skin and small cell lung carcinoma. Reacts with the 68kD protein (chromogranin A). The antigen is localized in secretory granules and, therefore, poorly granulated cells react weakly. Species Crossreactivity: monkey, rat, rabbit and porcine.
