Clostridium difficile is a gram-positive motile bacterium which is the leading cause of diarrhoea in developed countries. The incidence of disease in humans varies greatly with age, spore density and the administration of antibiotics. Toxin B (TcdB) is a large exotoxin. Its role in disease is less well understood than that of toxin A, though it seems clear that TcdB contributes to disease. Both toxins modifies the Ras superfamily of small GTPases via glycosylation, inactivating them and leading to the disruption of vital signaling pathways in the cell. Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions: Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
