DNA (cytosine-5)-methyltransferase 3B (Dnmt3b) is a DNA methyltransferase that is essential for mammalian development potentially through its transcription and repression activity (1).It is one of three different families of DNA (cytosine-5) methyltransferases, Dnmt1, Dnmt2, Dnmt3 (Dnmt3a and Dnmt3b).Dnmt3a and Dnmt3b form complexes with the major maintenance enzyme Dnmt1 (2). Depletion of Dnmt3b has been shown to induce apoptosis of human cancer cells, and reactivate methylation-silenced gene expression (3).Methylation defects in ICF syndrome may also result from impaired stimulation of Dnmt3b activity (4). Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilution: Western Blot: 1:1000-1:5000 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-1:100 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher. Storage and Stability: May be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
