Fodrin, alpha (Spectrin Non-erythroid alpha Chain, Alpha II Spectrin, FLJ44613, Spectrin alpha Non-erythrocytic 1, SPTAN1, SPTA2)

In non-erythroid cells, a spectrin-like protein has been identified as fodrin and found to contain two subunits (alpha subunit of M.W. 240kD and beta subunit of M.W. 235kD). Fodrin is believed to be involved in 1) stabilizing membrane structure; 2) maintaining cell shape; 3) linking the cytoskeleton to plasma membranes or intracellular vesicles. In particular, fodrin is known to mediate the association of actin filaments with the plasma membrane.\n\nAppplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot, ELISA, Immunoprecipitation, Immunocytochemistry, Flow Cytometry, Immunohistochemistry and RIA. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilutions:\nWestern Blot: 1:200\nELISA: 1:1000\nImmunoprecipitation: 1:100\nImmunocytochemistry: 1:100\nFlow Cytometry: 1:500\nImmunohistochemistry: 1:100\nRIA: 1:5000 \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
