Heat Shock Cognate Protein 70, cytosolic (HSC70, HSP73)

Cat no: H1831-25C

Heat Shock Cognate Protein 70, cytosolic (HSC70, HSP73)

Cytosolic Hsc70 is a constitutively expressed member of the multigene 70kD family of stress proteins. During cold acclimation, spinach cytosolic protein levels remain constant whereas mRNA levels increase (2). This low-temperature induced up-regulation of mRNA may be needed to maintain the steady state level of cytosolic Hsc70 protein (2). Spinach cytosolic Hsc70 mRNA levels have also been shown to increase in response to heat shock, but remain unchanged during drought stress (2). This is in contrast to spinach BiP (another constitutively expressed member of the 70kD family of stress proteins that resides in the endoplasmic reticulum) mRNA levels which decrease in response to heat and drought stress (2). These findings would suggest that differentially induced mRNA levels of cytosolic Hsc70 and BiP may be important in maintaining proper protein biogenesis when faced with environmental stresses (2). \n \nApplications: \nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot (Colorimetric): 1ug/mL \nImmunoprecipitation: 20ug/ml \nOptimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.

Additional Info

Recognizes plant cytosolic Heat Shock Cognate Protein 70 at ~70-75kD. Reacts with samples from apple, asparagus, banana, carrot, corn, cucumber, lettuce, orange, potato, spinach, tomato, woody plant bark tissue and Douglas Fir root. In some plant lysates, additional lower molecular mass bands may be detected, which correspond to either Hsc70 degradation or proteins of unknown identity. Not recommended for immunoprecipitation with tomato lysates. Does not cross react with E. coli DnaK, mammalian Hsc70, recombinant hamster BiP or spinach BiP.
