Cat no: H1909-22B

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, ayw, Recombinant (HBsAg)

The hepatitis B virus is an important cause of acute and chronic liver disease. It is also the most common form of parenterally transmitted viral hepatitis. The virus is estimated to affect some 350 million people worldwide. Immunization against hepatitis B is an important component of preventative medicine and is offered to all children in approximately 30 countries.\n\nHepatitis B virus (HBV) belongs to the Hepadnaviridae family and infection with HBV is usually more serious than infection with hepatitis A virus. In some individuals the infection is not cleared and followed by persistent intracellular viral carriage that can lead to the development of hepatocelular carcinomas. There are currently 400 million HBV carriers worldwide making HBV one of the most common human pathogens.\n\nDimers and Aggregates:\n(same/less than) 1% as determined by silver-stained SDS-PAGE gel analysis.\n\nEndotoxin:\n(same/less than) 0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug) of HBsAg.\n\nBiological Activity:\nWas tested in ELISA with anti-HBsAg antibodies\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA (capture and conjugate), Immunogen for monoclonal antibody production.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
