Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 4 alpha (HNF4a)

Cat no: H2006-08C

Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor 4 alpha (HNF4a)

Hepatocyte nuclear factor 4 alpha (HNF4 alpha) is a transcription factor that belongs to the steroid hormone receptor superfamily and is enriched in the liver (1). HNF4 alpha, by association with PGC-1 alpha, activates gluconeogenic genes such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase and glucose- 6-phosphatase genes in fasted liver (2,3). In addition, conditional knockout of HNF4 alpha gene in the mouse liver destroys lipid homeostasis and leads to lipid accumulation in the liver and a reduction of cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the serum (4). Furthermore, mutations in HNF4 alpha have been linked to the maturity-onset diabetes of the young (MODY) (5).\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern blot 1:1000\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
