Interleukin 1 beta, Recombinant, Mouse (IL-1b)

A soluble factor produced by monocytes, macrophages, and other cells which activates T-lymphocytes and potentiates their response to mitogens or antigens. Murine macrophages display a transition from IL-1 beta to IL-1 alpha production during maturation of monocytes into inflammatory macrophages. The synthesis of IL-1 can be induced by other cytokines including TNF-alpha, IFN-alpha, IFN-beta and IFN-g and also by bacterial endotoxins, viruses, mitogens, and antigens. In human skin fibroblasts IL-1 alpha and TNF-alpha induce the synthesis of IL-1beta. The ED50 is <2pg/ml, corresponding to a Specific Activity of 5x10e8 IU/mg.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nLyophilized powder may be stored at -20 degrees C. Stable for 12 months at -20 degrees C after receipt . Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O, 0.1% HSA or BSA. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
