MCG10 (Alpha-CP4, LIP4, Poly(rC)-Binding Protein 4)

MCG10 is a member of the KH-domain RNA-binding protein family. Proteins of this family also referred to as alpha-CPs, bind to RNA with specificity for C-rich pyrimidine regions. Alpha-CPs play important roles in post-transcriptional activities and have different cellular distributions (1). MCG10 is induced by p53 and DNA damage via two p53-responsive promoter elements. Its overexpression in transfected cells results in the suppression of cell proliferation by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in G2-M (2). Decreased expression of one isoform of MCG10 has been observed in many forms of lung cancer, leading to speculation that MCG10 can act as a tumor suppressor (3). Multiple alternatively spliced isoforms of MCG10 have been identified.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 0.5-1 ug/ml.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control:\nHeLa cell lysate\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
