Melanoma Associated Antigen (Melanoma-associated Antigen, MAA)

Applications:\nSuitable for use in Immunohistochemistry. Can also be used to detect melanoma lesions in vivo. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nImmunohistochemistry (Frozen): 1:5-1:10 diluted in PBS. Stain by regular immunoperoxidase and immunofluorescence tests. Reacts preferentially with melanoma cells in frozen tissue sections.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.

Recognizes the Melanoma Associated Antigen, a high molecular weight proteoglycan with a molecular weight of > 450kD (chondroitin sulfate) and 250kD (core protein). Reacts strongly with melanoma cells derived from cell lines and short term cultures. Reacts with most naevi and perineurium, and shows weak reactivity with hair follicles.
