MLL is a histone methyltransferase and chromatin modifier that plays a role in hematopoiesis. This protein is implicated in HOX gene regulation in early embryogenesis and in the regulation of non-HOX genes p27 (Kip1) and p18 (lnk4C). It is part of a catalytic subunit of the MLL1/MLL complex, which mediates the acetylation of aa16 of histone H4 (H4K16ac) and the methylation of aa4 of histone H3 (H3K4me). It is reported that MLL interacts directly with the polymerase associated factor complex (PAFc) through sequences flanking the CxxC domain. Subsequently, PAFc interacts with RNA polymerase II and thereby stimulates posttranslational histone modifications. Taspase 1, catalyzes MLL into MLL-C and MLL-N, both of which reassociate and later reassemble into different multiprotein complexes that regulate the transcription of specific target genes, including many of the HOX genes. Mutations in the MLL gene are linked to certain acute myeloid and lymphoid leukemias.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot and Immunocytochemistry. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
