Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), also called matrixins, belong to a family of proteases that are essential for the breakdown of extracellular matrix (ECM). They are thus important in apoptosis, tumor cell growth, invasion, and metastasis; as well as angiogenesis and wound healing. Most of the MMPs contain common domain structures that include a signal sequence, a propeptide, a catalytic domain, and a hemopexin-like (Hpx) domain. MMP-2 and MMP-9, the two gelatinases, contain three additional repeats of a fibronectin type II-like domain, enabling them to bind to and break down collagens.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 0.5-2ug/ml\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
