Pepsinogen I

Pepsinogen I, a zymogen, or proenzyme secreted by Chief cells in the stomach, is cleaved to form pepsin both in an autocatalytic fashion and by pepsin itself. In humans there are two related forms of pepsin, Pepsinogen I, also known as Pepsinogen A, and Pepsinogen II, also known as Pepsinogen B or progastricsin. \n\nA protein precursor to pepsin, Pepsinogen I or Pepsinogen A is secreted exclusively by the chief cells of the gastric corpus. The levels of Pepsinogen I correlate directly with the active number of chief cells in this area. In cases of severe atrophic gastritis of the corpus region, the chief cells will be destroyed and the levels of Pepsinogen I will fall dramatically.\n\nApplications:\nSuitable for use in ELISA and RIA. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nELISA: Direct and sandwich.\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nAffinity Constant:\n4x10e10L/mol\n\nRecommended Secondary Antibodies:\nI1904-06C: IgG, H&L (HRP) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo\nI1904-06H IgG, H&L (HRP) (X-Adsorbed) Pab Gt xMo\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
