PTEN Tumor Suppressor Protein, Recombinant, Human (MMAC1, Phosphatase and Tensin, TEP1)

PTEN, a tumor suppressor, has been implicated in a large number of human tumors and is conserved from humans to worms. Characterization of PTEN protein showed that it is a phosphatase that acts on proteins and on 3-phosphorylated phosphoinositides, and can therefore modulate signal-transduction pathways that involve lipid second messengers. Recent results indicate that at least part of its role is to regulate the activity of the serine/threonine kinase AKT/PKB, and thus influence cell survival signaling.\n\nRecombinant PTEN shows a band at 86kD on SDS-PAGE commassie blue stained gel.\n\nDimers and Aggregates:\n(same/less than) 1% as determined by coomassie blue SDS-PAGE gel analysis.\n\nEndotoxin:\n(same/less than) 0.1ng/ug (IEU/ug) of Human PTEN.\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
