The product of this gene belongs to the ligand-gated ion channel receptor superfamily. This gene encodes subunit A of the type 3 receptor for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor causes fast, depolarizing responses in neurons after activation. It appears that the heteromeric combination of A and B subunits is necessary to provide the full functional features of this receptor, since either subunit alone results in receptors with very low conductance and response amplitude. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.\n\nApplications: \nSuitable for use in ELISA and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.\n\nRecommended Dilution:\nWestern Blot: 0.3-1ug/ml. Approximately 55kD ban observed using human colon lysates (calculated MW is 55.3kD according to NP_000860.1). A minor band of unknown identity was also consistently observed at 200kD. This band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.\n\nPeptide ELISA (titer): 1:28,000\n\nOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.\n\nPositive Control: Human Colon lysate\n\nStorage and Stability:\nMay be stored at 4 degrees C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and store at -20 degrees C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months at -20 degrees C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
